More then 10.000 years ago, the bush men wandered all over
South Africa . These hunter-gathers lived in perfect harmony with nature, they used plants and herbs to heal, they used meditation and trance to connect with the eternal vibe and last but not least they used rubbing techniques to heal and cure their body. These wisdom is passed on for generations, Carol translated this into contemporary massage techniques which incorporate the mystic and the subtle techniques from her ancestors.

In ancient times, healing was common good in
Southern Africa. The shamans entered a trance and healed spiritual sickness by the members of their community. A great diversity of healing techniques were used. Also an abundant knowledge of plants and herbs was available. In this tradition of healing and working with people and plants, Carol carries this old tradition in her work.
Vunkuwa is an unique technique that involves body warm-up, pressure points, deep tissue, manipulation
of the spinal cord, energy balancing and African Medicinal plants and the application of massage oils wich are made out of these plants. More then 400 movements are actually an integral part of the massage. These 400+ movements are used for individual needs of longevity.

Many clients from all over the world enjoyed the fruit of Carol’s labour. In CapeTown they came from
Germany, United States, The Netherlands, Belgium, India ,…. All of them speak about the relaxing and boosting effects of the techniques applied by Carol.

Recently,
Vunkuwa International Academy is officially registered in Europe. We are situated in the heart of Europe in a beautiful 18th century mansion.

This is what some of our students have to say on our courses:
Belinde Sillis (professional therapist): ‘I saw Carol demonstrating Vunkuwa Massage at a wellness event in Belgium. I saw her techniques and I immediately wanted to learn this massage. It is a wonderful experience, I really adore this Vunkuwa African Massage. I passed level 1, Level 2 and 3 will start for me soon, I am looking forward to it.’

Suzy Davidson (artist-painter-therapist): ‘ This massage is so grounding, it connected me to mother earth in a way that I have never experienced before. Fantastic experience. ’
Nicole Mampaey(shiatsu therapist): ‘I learned already so many techniques, unbelievable and I hope to learn a lot
more.’
Wim Jamart (body and mind therapist): ‘I have my own massage practice and I have followed already a lot of courses, but this Vunkuwa Massage is really excellent and exceeds any massage technique I have learned before. It goes deeper and it is more intense then the massages I know. ‘
